|On behalf of the International Fencing Federation I am glad to welcome all participants and guests of the “Moscow Sabre” International Tournament.
In 2016, these competitions have a special status. “Moscow Sabre” is the last Grand Prix international tournament before the main event of the four-year term – Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The strongest athletes will come to test themselves before the Olympics. Due to that current competitions promise to be special with regard to both the sabre fencing level and, no doubt, the emotional heatedness of bouts.
“Moscow Sabre” is one of the oldest and most significant fencing tournaments in the world. Winning this event means making the world’s sabre fencing elite. Coming to Moscow, anyone aspires that. I am confident the 2016 “Moscow Sabre” will boast – just like it always has – high-level organization, an atmosphere of genuine chivalry, which is characteristic of our sport.
I wish that all athletes display their best fencing, be courageous, strong and inventive as high results can only be achieved in such a manner!
President of International fencing Federation (FIE)
|Moscow again welcomes world’s strongest sabre fencers at the big fencing festival. The “Moscow Sabre” history is more than forty years old. Its winners and prize winners’ list includes many renowned names and the tournament is still one of the most prestigious events in the International Fencing Federation’s calendar.
It has become a tradition that the “Moscow Sabre” completes the season’s “One Series. Nine Cities” Grand Prix. For us, it is a great honor to host international competitions of such a high level – moreover, with the 2016 Olympics pending.
Pistes at the “Druzhba” Sport Complex in Luzhniki will feature several dozen extra class athletes and there is no doubt that fencing fans will witness amazingly tense and masterfully artful bouts. It is going to be about beauty, intrigue and dynamics – everything that makes us love this sport. It is noteworthy that next time world’s best sabre masters will gather already in Rio de Janeiro.
On behalf of the Russian Fencing Federation I wish that all participants fence in a fearless and relaxed manner, using their rich technique, and that all our guests feel positive emotions during the competitions and their overall stay in the Russian capital.
President of Russian fencing Federation (RFF)
